Is there a place for religion?

Is there a place for religion in schools? How will children benefit if introduced and explained fairly in classrooms? The ideal way to go about it would be to focus on peace education. But without value education, there can be no peace, so they have to be integrated into mainstream classroom study. Children need a space to express their emotions and talk about things that trouble them.

Building a culture of caring

The recent tragedy in a Bihar school where 23 children died after consuming the mid-day meal has exposed the dismissive and ‘don’t care’ attitudes that is prevalent among the politicians. Against this backdrop it is imperative that schools open up and create spaces for dialogues that can help cultivate caring attitudes at every level. Only then can we build a truly safe school system and nurture every child’s body, mind and soul.
